My name is Vickie Goodin-England. I am originally from Somerset, Kentucky but currently reside in London, Kentucky with my husband. We also have four dogs, and two cats. ( All are free to a good home, just call me). I am a youth minister at Grace Community Church and enjoy teaching tremendously. I have 1 child, 4 step-children, and 2 god-children. I also have 5 wonderful step-grandchildren and 4 god-grandchildren. I enjoy math and kids, so I combined the two to become a math teacher at the high school level.
I have a bachelors of science degree from Eastern Kentucky University with teaching certification in Computer Science and Mathematics for grades 5 - 12. I also have a Rank II and a Rank I in teaching LBD in special education for grades K - 12, with an emphasis in Mathematics.
The purpose of this webpage is to inform my students of their homework assignments and to inform parents of their child's requirements and homework assignments for my classes. If there is ever anything I can do to help a child succeed at learning math or lifes important lessons, I will take the opportunity to do so.

Geometry
Theorem 7-1 Area of a Rectangle - The area of a rectangle is the product of its base and height. A = bh
Theorem 7-2 -- Area of a Parallelogram -- The area of a parallelogram is the product of a base and the corresponding height. A = bh.
Base of a parallelogram -- Any of the parallelograms sides.
Altitude -- is a segment perpendicular to the line containing that base drawn from the side opposite the base.
Height -- the length of an altitude.
Theorem 7-3 -- Area of a traingle -- The area of a triangle is half the product of a base and the corresponding height. A = 1/2 bh.
Base of a triangle -- Any of its sides.
height of the triangle -- is the length of the altitude to the line containing that base.
Theorem 7-4 -- Pythagorean Theorem -- In a right triangle, the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse. a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
Pythagorean triple -- the set of nonzero whole numbers a, b, and c that satisfy the equation a^2 + b^2 = c^2. example (3, 4, 5) (3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2) (9 + 16 = 25)
Theorem 7-5 Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem -- If the square of the length of one side of a triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides, then the triangle is a right triangle.
Theorem 7-6 -- IF the square of the length of the longest side of a traingle is greter than the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides, the triangle is obtuse. If c^2 > a^2 + b^2, the triangle is acute.
Theorem 7-7 -- If the square of the length of the longest side of a triangle is less than the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides, the triangle is acute. If c^2 < a^2 + b^2, the triangle is acute.
Theorem 7-8 -- 45 - 45 - 90 Triangle Theorem. In a 45-45-90 triangle, both legs are congruent and the length of the hypotenuse is Square root of 2 times the length of the leg. (hypotenuse = square root 2 times the leg)
Theorem 7-9 -- 30-60-90 triangle theorem -- In a 30-60-90 triangle, the length of the hypotenuse is twice the length of the shorter leg. The length of the longer leg is square root of 3 times the length of the shorter leg.
Height of a trapezoid -- the perpendicular distance h between the bases.
Theorem 7-10 Area of a Trapezoid -- The area of a trapezoid is half the product of the height and the sum of the bases. A = 1/2 h(base 1 + base 2)
Theorem 7-11 Area of a Rhombus or a Kite -- The area of a rhombus or a kite is half the product of the lengths of its diagonals. A = 1/2 (d1)(d2)
Center of a regular polygon -- the center of the circumscribed circle about any regular polygon.
Radius of a polygon -- the distance from the center to a vertex.
