Dear Readers,
Welcome to Southern Middle School Media Center--the heart of SMS. Our media center is well-equipped to meet the needs of our students. We have thousands of fiction and nonfiction books with reading levels for all students. Our books are checked out for a two week period but may be renewed for longer if needed. We have many periodicals that may be checked out for over night reading.
Our students are encouraged to use one of our computers for research, take accelerated reader test, use the card catalog or simply enjoy the quiet atmosphere in one of the reading areas. Southern Middle School has a Reading Reservation Cafe' that is used for reading groups/clubs, parent meetings or small group activities.
I have been the media specialist at Southern since 2001. I have been in education for over 17 years starting my career in the Green County School system. I received my associate degree from Lindsey Wilson College, Bachelor of Science from Campbellsville College, Masters and Rank 1 from Western Kentucky University. My husband Jason and I have one daughter, Erica and two collies, Lucy and Ethel. I have worn several hats over the course but feel getting reluctant readers to enjoy reading is the greatest! I love school and I am PROUD to be a Southern Warrior!
