Hello. My name is Sara Browning. I am the full-time Speech Language Pathologist at Burnside Elementary School. I have been at Burnside Elementary for 11 years teaching articulation, language, voice, and fluency skills. I work with students to improve their production of target sounds in isolation, syllables, words, phrases, sentences, oral reading, and conversations. Language students focus on expressive skills (such as grammar usage, word meaning, and social language) and receptive skills (such as auditory processing of information, listening comprehension, and following directions). Fluency students work toward reducing their stuttering incidents by using fluency shaping techniques (such as slow, easy speech). I also help non-verbal students by teaching them to use alternative and augmentative communication devices. I truly enjoy helping students to communicate independently in a variety of setting and situations.
