This Health Education course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to confront health-related issues. Every individual has to make daily decidiond regarding health issues that affect their immediate and/or long-term health. These decision building skills will be covered inside health class at Pulaski County High School.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS
Remaining physically healthy and accepting responsiblity for personal physical wellness is to possess the knowledge and skills needed to make choices which promote health and prevent disease. There is a strong relationship between behavioral choices and habits and a healthy functioning body
STUDENTS WILL:
- describe how the benefits of exercise are interrrelated
- apply principles of exercise
- develop health related fitness
- apply nutritional concepts in meal planning
- establish, develop and implement a lifetime personal fitness plan and activity plan
- realize one's own personal fitness level(e.g., endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular, weight)
PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT: investigate benefits of exercise and nutrition
portfolio entry should include these topics:
increase in cardiorespiratory endurance

increase in muscular endurance
decrease body fat

MOTOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Cognitive development is directly related to physical development. Cognitive information can be used to understand and enhance the development of motor skills such as movement sequences and patterns. Individuals who understand their bodies and how they perform various movements will be safer, more productive in recreation and work activities.
