WELCOME TO 4TH GRADE READING!!!
This is my 5th year of teaching and my second year at Shopville Elementary. I am very excited to be joining the Tiger team! This year students will be hard at work developing and revising writing master pieces. In reading we will be learning through disscussions, activities, and open responses about authors purpose, genres, sequencing, setting, plot, character traits, and comparing/contrasting.
Students will complete hands on activites such as book posters in which they will apply the author's purposes of entertain, persuade, inform, and express to convince readers to dive into reading with their book. Fourth graders will also create crayon paintings in which they visualize the setting from the story "The Cricket in Times Square".
Your child will also be responsible for a daily assignment planner. Students are to record any homework they may have for all subjects in this planner, including reading. Parents are encouraged to look over the childs planner each night. A parent signature acknowledges that they read the planner and the student has completed the homework.
