"On Your Own"-Your Responsible Life
This course offers a foods laboratory and sewing laboratory experience. It also offers a super financial planning unit and units in relationships, parenting, child and human development, housing (we make something) nutrition, leadership and careers. This class is the foundation for choosing advanced classes right for you. You will use the information for the rest of your life. This course is recommended for those considering a career in health or social services. Students will have the opportunity to join Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) if enrolled in this course. Students will be required to pay a $7.00 Foods lab fee and to purchase small amounts of fabric for the housing and sewing projects.
Requirements and Due Dates
- Grades for bringing supplies on time. Plan ahead. Get help if needed.
- Bring Items on or BEFORE DUE DATES. No supplies - no work done.
A. Bring daily: Small 3-ring binder, small amount loose-leaf paper, 2 pens & 2 pencils, by-Tuesday, August 15
B. $7 Foods unit fee by -September 8
C. 1/2 yards fleece fabric for a pillow and 1/2 yard cotton or cotton blend for a pillow by- October and bag of loose fiberfill.
Grading/Homework Policy: Cumulative Point System
1. Daily grades based on class work participation
2. Assessments: Quizzes, Tests, individual and group projects, lab work, homework, reports, many creative assessments to suit all intelligences.
