My name is Mrs. Lavenna Phelps, better known as, Mrs. L. Phelps. This year is my fourteenth year at Burnside Elementary. I am very proud to be a member of the faculty here at such a wonderful school!
Mrs. L. Phelps' second grade class has been reading Accelerated Reader books to get AR points. In September we were the monthly winners. Hopefully we will be the the winners all year. Please help your child by checking out AR books at the Burnside Branch Library or Somerset Public Library. There is a list of AR books on the schools web site.
Breakthrough is up and running and students are being exposed to a variety of genres. We have learned about Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the struggles he had with polio. This book has been very interesting to the students.
In math we will be working on multiplication and arrays very soon. We will also be working on two and three digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.
