My name is Mrs. Lavenna Phelps, better known as, Mrs. L. Phelps. This is my twelveth year at Burnside Elementary. I am very proud to be a member of the faculty here at such a wonderful school!
Mrs. L. Phelps' second grade class has been reading Accelerated Reader books to get AR points. We have won the bird for the most points in the months of August, September, October, November, and December. I am very proud of my students. They have worked really, really hard!!! Let's beat those Second Grade Classes for the rest of the year!
Breakthrough is up and running and students are being exposed to a variety of genres. We just completed our Unit 3 test in our core reading program and are on our way through Unit 4.
In math we have been working on addition and subtraction with regrouping, fractions, and multipulation, as well as telling time and money. We are also focusing on PAM skills. We continue to work on Mountain Math daily.
Our class won a pizza party for perfect attendance for the month of December. Let's keep up the great attendance!
