Hello!
I am the fourth grade Reading teacher here at Burnside Elementary. This is my second year of teaching and my first year at Burnside. I really love teaching the students here at Burnside, they are so eager to learn and the parents seem so caring and concerned about their child's education. I have four children of my own and three who attend Burnside. It is really a great school with a hard-working and caring staff. I am honored to teach Burnside students and also to have my own children attend here as well.
In the fourth grade we learn a lot of new material as well as reinforce what has already been taught.
As the Reading teacher I strive to foster the love of reading in all students. I feel that reading is the key to education and with that love of reading it will begin to open the doors for immense opportunities for our children and truly broaden their horizons.
At Burnside we have some really great stories in our reading series that I feel will capture the students' attention and are very interesting and entertaining as well.
I ask that my students read at least twenty minutes each night and bring their planners signed by their parent/guardian stating that they have done so. We also do some writing in reading class with open response questions for our students, which helps to improve their critical thinking skills as well as writing skills.
There is much to learn and now is the time to climb the ladder of educational success!
