My name is Karen Hunt and I am the Success Maker Math facilitator for Northern Middle School. Success Maker Math is a research-based program to help students who are at least one grade level behind in mathematics. It is taught in an exploratory class called Number Power. Students are selected to participate in Number Power based on a variety of assessments, including PAM test scores, Universal Screening results and teacher recommendation. Students spend 35 minutes per day using a technology based mathematics program and spend one day a week in a small group activity. Students set goals for themselves throughtout the year and graph their own results every two weeks.
This is my 9th year at Northern and I am very excited about this opportunity to help students improve their mathematics skills.
