COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
Mr. Murray
Level of Student: 9-12 1 Credit
Goal: Students will develop necessary skills for success in an office environment with emphasis on proper keyboarding techniques and Microsoft Office Skills.
Objectives:
- Students should be able to key at a minimum rate of 40 words per minute with no more than 5 errors.
- Students will demonstrate correct keyboarding and word processing skills, including document enhancement and editing, for work environments and personal use.
- Students will use spreadsheets to organize and interpret data.
- Students will create presentations that are appropriately formatted and eye appealing.
- Students will be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint efficiently.
- Students will develop needed organizational skills.
- Students will demonstrate an awareness of the impact computers have on society and understand basic computer terminology.
Required Materials:
Textbook, Writing utensil, $10.00 fee-please let the instructor know if you have either free or reduced lunch, Notebook

Absence Make-up Policy: Consistent attendance is extremely important in this course. The attendance policy in the student agenda book will be followed.

Business Law

Level of Student: 11-12 1 Credit
Goal: Students will develop necessary skills for understanding how law applies to everyday life.
Objectives:
- Students will learn the principal human rights protected by the Bill of Rights.
- Students will understand ethics in our law.
- Students will understand the difference between civil and criminal law.
- Students will understand how courts operate.
- Students will understand how judgments are rendered by courts.
- Students will understand the difference between crimes and torts.
- Students will learn the legal rights and duties of minors and their parents.

Business Principles and Applications

Goal: Students will gain essential information necessary for making sound financial and economic decisions.
Objectives:
- Students will define the free enterprise system and differences in world economies
- Students will apply sound money management principles for personal and family finances
- Students will demonstrate appropriate uses of credit
- Students will apply consumer rights and responsibilities in a business setting
- Students will investigate various forms of business ownership
- Students will demonstrate understanding of risk associated with business ventures and the necessity of insurance
- Students will demonstrate understanding of the importance of international trade within the U.S. economy

Fees: There is a $10.00 fee for this class. Fees for students receiving free or reduced lunch will be reduced.
