Course Description-
This course provides opportunities for students to develop skills in the construction of fashion and home furnishings. There will be a lot of individual freedom in choosing projects. Some projects might be, pillows, quilts, quilted bags, the possibilities are endless. Students apply knowledge of design principles and process through skill performance activities. Many different projects will be constructed throughout the year.

FCS Department Rules

-Bring need materials to class (pencil, paper, binder, past assignment)
-Be in your seat when the bell rings
-You will have three emergency passes for each nine weeks. You will receive an unexcused tardy for each additional request.

-Look at who is speaking (teacher or another student)

2.When you arrive in class, sit at your assigned seat and immediately get out class binder. Bell work and or assignments will be posted on the board. Immediately begin work after the bell rings, begin the activity. Make up any missed bell work by checking binders
3.We will often have class discussions. All students are expected to practice courtesy-only one person speaks at a time. If you need (or want) to make a comment, suggestion, or ask a question, please raise your hand and wait for permission to speak. Class participation is part of your grade. Use a normal voice tone and voice.
4.Attendance is important. When you are absent, it is your responsibility to check the class tray and binder for make-up work. If you need more instructions, try to talk to me before or after school or before class starts. You have 3 days to make up work missed after returning. Fill out a makeup work cover sheet, staple to work and hand in the appropriate tray.
5.When school-wide announcements are made, students are expected to sit quietly and listen. Others around you may need to hear the announcement.
6.If there is a fire drill, exit the classroom single file and proceed to the hallway by 142. Exit through the side doors of the building and proceed to the teacher parking lot area. The teacher will take attendance outside. If you are not in the assigned area with our class, you will be considered AWOL.
7.If there is a tornado drill, you will exit to the Family and Consumer Sciences hallway and line up two abreast facing the walls. Please remain quiet; instructions may be given.
8.If there is an earthquake drill, students should immediately move all chairs out of the way and kneel under the tables. Cover your head with your hands to protect yourself.
12.When you finish your class work early, you are expected to work on something else quietly. We all work at different rates, so respect your classmates. When one student talks, it disturbs the entire class.
13.Hall passes are designed for emergencies.
14.Students are expected to do their best and neatest work at all times. All graded papers should be filed in student binders when returned. Bell work will be collected for a grade.
15.Come to class groomed. (Grooming is not appropriate in class; never comb your hair in the foods Lab.)
16.If the phone rings or we have a guest, you are to become quite immediately, even during group activities.
17.Listen closely to directions and to the teacher.
18.No eating in class, except on days of special permission o before the bell rings.
19.We will often work in groups. The following procedures should be followed when working with your support group:
A.You are responsible for your own job and the results of the group.
B.If you have a question, ask your support buddies. Do not ask your teacher.
C.You must be willing to help if asked for help.
D.If no one can answer a question, agree on a consensus question and appoint one person to raise a hand for help from the teacher.
E.Include everyone.
20.You must clean up after yourself. Privileges will be lost if you cant clean up after yourself.
21.Drinks are permitted, however this privilege will be taken away if you: play with the bottle or can during class, repeatedly ask to go to the restroom, ask to buy drinks during class, throw your bottle or can away during an inappropriate time, dont follow related school rules.
22.At the end of class
- Wait until you have permission to put away your materials.
- Remain seated until the teacher not the bell dismisses you.
