What is Language Arts?
Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts! In my classroom, we enjoy exploring the real world types of writing such as articles, letters, reviews, and so forth. In addition, we will be reading and writing personal narratives, short stories, poetry, and much more. Every year numerous students publish their work; checkout the reviews at amazon.com. Daily the students are challenged and encouraged to develop their skills to become the best writers possible. I love being able to experience the fun of watching writers in progress. Each young writing mind brings to the classroom his or her own unique experiences; where each mind leads is always an interesting journey. So... if you are up for an adventure of a lifetime, come be apart of the
Journalistic Journey
.

Assessment will come in the form of various daily activities. These will include but are not limited to the following: portfolio appropraite writing pieces, on-demands, open responses, multiple choice, exit slips, projects, planning guides, and so forth. The portfolio construction is an on-going process for the entire year. The writing portfolio will be collected and scored during the school year which is in addition to daily grades for the steps of each writing process (for
each
piece) from prewriting to publishing.
Additional reading for fun will come in the form of literature circles. Weekly, roles will be assigned and pages calculated. At the end of each circle an AR test will be taken as a test grade.
