I am Dana Bullock. This is my 9th year at Southern Middle School. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist with state licensure and national accreditation. I have been practicing in the field of speech and language since 1992 and have served schools during each of those years. I have also provided services to hospitals, home health, and nursing homes.

In my capacity as a speech-language pathologist for the Pulaski County Schools, I provide a wide range of services for students. I am capable of providing speech sound production correction, another words, how one says the sounds we make in pronouncing our words. This area is most often thought of when you mention "speech". However, speech services often go far beyond that....I provide language development, proper vocal quality, fluency therapy, and augmentative communication device development and implementation for those who cannot talk. I am also qualified to work with those who have had brain trauma and strokes, believe it or not, there are children in the school setting who have had a stroke . One last area I may provide services in is the area of early childhood development when the preschool population comes into the school setting and has additional problems with feeding. Swallowing therapy is another area we provide services which is within our scope of practice.

So the next time someone mentions the word "speech" perhaps you will have a better understanding of the variety and scope of the services the speech-language pathologist provides within your child's school.

Should I provide services to your child, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 679-6855.
