Hello! I have been teaching at Burnside for 11 years and have loved every minute of it! I have been married now for 4 years to the love of my life Sid. We are also proud grandparents to our new addition to the family, Konnor. I'm sure your child has come home and talked about Konnor, since I talk about him all the time.
In second grade we are learning and growing so much! We will be learning a lot of exciting and important skills such as adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers, multiplication, decimals, and cursive handwriting. Please have your child practice their handwriting at home. Our reading series this year focuses on many different units such as pioneers, oceans and other habitats, responsibilities, changes of the world, etc. Our Breakthrough to Literacy program also focuses on a wide variety of genres.
Please have your child read read nightly for at least 15 minutes.
We have been working hard to attain our A/R goal. Parents, please encourage your child to read these books and take tests on them. They will be awarded for their effort if they meet their goal!
If at anytime you have any questions or concerns please contact me at school. I will return your call as soon as possible. Sorry, but I do not conference with anyone during instructional time because that takes away from your child. Every minute of the day is precious time for learning. I am so happy and honored to be teaching your child! I will do my very best to pour as much knowledge into their little heads as possible!
