Hello! My name is Cindy Patton and I teach third, fourth, and fifth grade open-response and on-demand writing as well as third grade reading. While working with so many age levels, it's very satisfying to see the progress of each student. The students often hear me say " I just saw your light bulb come on!" I love it when that happens!
Parents you too can help your child's "light bulb to come on" by reviewing and reminding him or her of the following writing strategy:
SAM'S Jam
S = Sentences are complete with a subject and predicate.
A = Answer all parts of the questions correctly.
M = Mechanics-capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and grammar (word
usage/choice)
S = Support your answer with details from the story or article.
