Hello! My name is Beth Halcomb and this is my 13th year at the great Southern Middle School! I earned a Bacholar of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University, and I earned my Master's Degree in Middle Grade Education from EKU as well. I am currently completing my Rank I in Elementary Counseling. I live with my two children, Audrey (age 11) and Grant (age 8), and they really keep me busy! In my spare time I enjoy riding my horses or working with the 4-H Dog Program. I am currently teaching Social Studies on the 6th grade Blue team. They are a great group of folks to work with!

2. The United States and Canada
3. Latin and South America
4. Europe
5. Russia and the Eurasian Republics
6. North Africa and Southwest Asia
7. Africa South of the Sahara
8. Asia
9. Australia, Oceania and Antarctica
Students will study geography using the Five Themes of Geography:
1. Location
2. Place
3. Human/Environment Interaction
4. Movement
5. Regions
Assignments will include in-class work, homework, group work, projects, quizzes, and tests including an end of the 9 weeks assessment and learning check. Grades will be determined by the number of points received on each assignment.
It is the student's responsibility to complete their assignments and turn them in on the date the assignment is due. Late work will not be accepted. If a student is absent, it is up to them to get their make-up work and have it completed and turned in within the 3 school days required.
