Hello and welcome to my web page! My name is Aubrey Pennington. I am beginning my fifteenth year in education. I taught high school history and social studies before moving into school improvement eight years ago.
According to Robert Marzano, there are three levels or factors that influence academic achievement:
1.School Level: quality curriculum; challenging goals & effective feedback to students; parent & community involvement; safe & orderly environment; collegiality & professionalism.
2.Teacher Level: implementation of effective research-based instructional strategies; classroom management; an aligned classroom curriculum.
3.Student Level: home environment; background knowledge & experiences; motivation to learn.
As curriculum specialists our goal is to assist with implementation of resources and strategies at each level and to monitor progress in overall academic achievement for Southwestern High School.
