This is my fourth year here at Burnside, and I am very excited about this school year! I will be teaching Math to all fifth grade students and science to my homeroom.
Classroom Rule #1 You may not ever say that you don't like math!
I think uncovering math mysteries can be challenging and fascinating! In my math class I strive to make new math skills as simple and interesting as finding a new friend. I truly believe that students can learn to love math and use it well no matter how young they are!
Students can learn math through fun and exciting games and experiments. At home, parents can encourage math skills by playing card and board games such as Rook and Monopoly. As you run errands, quiz your child on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Include your child in measurement that occurs in daily life, such as recipes and wood crafts.
