Welcome to Maroons in Transition! We look forward to this year, and we expect to have a great one! There are just a few materials you will need for our class, as well as, some procedures we would like for you to follow while you are in our class.
Materials Needed: Loose Leaf Paper or Single subject notebook
Journal/Composition Book
Three Ring Binder
Pencil or Pen (Blue or Black Ink ONLY)
MIT is designed to help you adjust to high school and to become the most effective teen you possibly can. We will talk about many character-building issues like self-esteem, abstinence, goal setting, and other important topics. Our essential question for the class is How do the choices you make today affect your life tomorrow?
Grading: Your grade will consist of performance on bellwork/journal, homework, presentations/projects, class participation as well as quizzes and tests. There will be many opportunities for class participation in MIT. So let it be an easy and fun way for you to collect points.
The total points earned on the assignments will be divided by the total points possible and converted to a percentage grade. Letter grades are assigned according to the following scale:
90-100= A
80-89= B
70-79=C
60-69=D
0-59=F
Expectations:
We expect you to respect yourself and others, be courteous, participate, give 100% effort, and treat others, as you would like to be treated.
Resources:

Procedures:
1.Please come to class on time. This means in your seat with materials ready to go when the bell rings. This does not mean in the hall talking, and when the bell rings running into class. Three tardies to class results in after school detention.
2.We expect all work to be turned in on time. The only excuse that will be acceptable will be excused absences from the office. If the absence is unexcused, you will receive a zero for the missed assignment.
3.If you have an excused absence, make-up work will be available to you. However, it is your responsibility to get the work you missed.
4.During lecture/discussion, you are to give your full attention to whomever is speaking and remain in your seat. For example, no getting up to sharpen pencil, asking to go to restroom or nurse etc.
NO CELL PHONES!! If we see them, they will be taken.
Consequences:
1st Warning
2nd Conference w/ Teacher
3rd Phone Call to Parent/Guardian
4th Principal/referral
